Music Education Research Council (MERC)
The governing body of SRME is the Music Education Research Council (MERC), acting through its Executive Committee. MERC consists of the Executive Committee, Chairpersons of Special Research Interest Groups (SRIGs), the Editorial Committees of the Journal of Research in Music Education and UPDATE: Applications of Research in Music Education, Divisional Research Chairs, and the State Research Chairpersons.
Special Research Interest Groups (SRIGs)
The SRIGs' purposes are to:
- broaden the base of support for research by actively involving different people and younger people in the activities of SRME
- provide a focal point for resesarch specialties both for research specialists and for teacher practitioners
- provide a continuing source of qualified leadership for SRME
