MEJ Enters 21st Century with Electronic Submission

Music Educators Journal, which has been published for almost a century by MENC: The National Association for Music Education, is entering the 21st century with an all-electronic submissions system, SAGETRACK.

If you’ve got an idea on a topic of interest to music teachers that you can express clearly in 3,500 words or fewer, as of September 2008 you’ll be able to submit it as a Word document via MENC’s newest publishing partner, SAGE Publications in Los Angeles, California, at the URL below:

In the words of MEJ’s academic editor Mitchell Robinson:

“The new online submission system promises to dramatically shorten the time it takes to take an article through the publication process, from submission to review to print. The SAGETRACK system is also very intuitive, and should prove immediately familiar to those who have previous experience submitting articles and other proposals using other electronic submissions technologies.”

All submissions undergo MENC's review process, and not all are accepted for publication. Although articles are blind-peer-reviewed, the SAGE site will ask for information such as your name and title, where you’d like to be contacted, and your e-mail address and phone numbers. SAGE won’t use this data in other venues--it’s just for contacting you about the article.

MEJ’s academic editor Mitchell Robinson is an associate professor of music education at Michigan State University, East Lansing, and an MENC member.
