Solo Audition Video Guidelines

Solo Audition (No Marching Required):

Note: Drum Major applicants need not submit this audition video

VIDEO INTENT: To display the best representation of your musicality, ability, and virtuosity on your instrument.

VIDEO CONTENT

  1. Introduction: At the start of the video, announce your full name, high school name, city, and state.
  2. Music: The solo audition must be a live recording. It may be an unaccompanied solo, a work featuring you with a group, with piano or with recorded accompaniment. The video may be a concert or rehearsal situation, but must be live.

MUSIC:
You may choose any music for the solo portion of the audition. Please pick repertoire that best showcases your personal ability. You may include several different performance excerpts spliced together, not exceeding 2 minutes.

For example: An applicant may have a live recording of a concerto with an orchestra, but would also like to include a live recording of their All-State solo recorded at home. Choose the section you would like to feature from each piece, and splice them together.

VIDEO UPLOAD: Go to http://aamb.opusevent.com and click "New User" to create your application and upload your audition videos.

Please note the solo video should not exceed 2 minutes in length.

Video Production Tips

Video Format: wmv, avi, mov, mpg, mpeg, and mp4 formats are acceptable.

File size restriction for uploading video: Video compression rates should be roughly 9 seconds per 1 MB. If your file is larger than 100 MB, then you should open it in your video editing software and export it to a new, compressed file with one of the accepted formats and a higher compression setting.
