Drum Major Audition Video 1 Guidelines

VIDEO INTENT: The intent of this video is to display your performance, leadership, poise, tasteful showmanship, and conducting ability as Drum Major. Time, consistency of beat, and a clear beat pattern are crucial elements of the Drum Major role for this group.

VIDEO CONTENT

Audition: Provide up to 2 minutes of performance or rehearsal video showing you conducting or commanding your group in performance as drum major. The segment(s) provided should NOT be a full field band video, but should be a close shot of you conducting from your front or side. The segment should include audio of the music you are conducting.

NOTE: You will only be able to upload one video for this segment of the audition, so if you have multiple video segments, you must compile them to one video to be submitted online.

ADJUDICATION: Judges will consider your performance, leadership, poise, tasteful showmanship, and conducting ability in this segment. Time, consistency of beat, and a clear beat pattern will be key elements considered for the Drum Major selection.

VIDEO UPLOAD: Go to http://aamb.opusevent.com and click "New User" to create your application and upload your audition videos.

Video Production Tips

Video Format: Flash (.flv) is the easiest and recommended video format for audition upload (see conversion ideas below)
Other Acceptable Video Formats: wmv, avi, mov, mpg, mpeg and mp4

File size restriction for uploading video: Video compression rates should be roughly 9 seconds per 1 MB. If your file is larger than 100 MB, then you should open it in your video editing software and export it to a new, compressed file with one of the accepted formats and a higher compression setting.

Some Sites to convert a video file to Flash (.flv) – (for your convenience, following are only a few resources available for video conversion. MENC does not endorse or warrant any products or information on these Web sites)
