U.S. Army All-American Marching Band Audition

USAAAMB Audition Instructions

Eligibility

To be eligible for the 2012 U.S. Army All-American Marching Band, you must be a high school senior in the 2011-2012 school year. You must be a member of your high school band from the time of application through the Bowl performance on January 7th, 2012, an American citizen, and in good standing with your school and community. Students must also commit to their availability in San Antonio, TX, from Monday January 2nd through Sunday January 8th, 2012.

Multiple Applications

You may apply for more than one position. To do so, you must complete the audition process for each individual position. If you are considered for more than one position, the MENC review committee will determine the best position for you based on ability and ensemble needs.

Online Audition

Only online entry materials will be considered for this audition process. Audition includes applicant contact information, terms and conditions agreement, school release consent form, and three required audition videos. Only applications with all materials will be considered complete.

Results Notification

Audition results will be announced by MENC in June 2011.

Before Starting Your Application:

  1. Read the Audition Terms and Agreements.
     
  2. Prepare your music, marching, and/or routine:
    • Musicians: Download the appropriate music for Video 1. Auditions will not be accepted for any instruments not represented in the audition music below. (i.e. French horn, flute, upright bass or acoustic guitar are not accepted)
      Piccolo, Clarinet, Alto Sax, Tenor Sax, Mellophone, Trumpet, Trombone, Marching Baritone, Sousaphone, Snare Drum, Multi-Tenor Drum, Bass Drum, Mallets, Drum Set, Piano/Synth, Electric Guitar, Electric Bass
       
    • Guard: Learn and prepare the work from the Guard Audition Video
       
  3. Record 3 required audition videos separately:
    • Video 1 - Marching and/or Playing [Required]

  4. Have your contact information including valid e-mail address and a list of any accomplishments ready. These can include national, state, regional, community, and school accomplishments as well as honor ensemble participation, awards, leadership positions, etc. You may cut and paste from a word document.
     
  5. Take your time. Prepare your music or routine, and record it when you’re ready. Please note the online application and video upload deadline is May 1st, 2011. You can return to your application to edit content or replace videos until the May 1st deadline.
     
  6. Click here to download an optional School Principal Recommendation Form. A completed Principal Recommendation Form from an applicant's current or former principal recommending their selection into the 2012 U.S. Army All-American Marching Band may be submitted with the other audition materials.
