Do you have a creative way to teach a song? Enter the WLC Song Lesson Plan Contest. All MENC members are eligible to submit up to three (3) lesson plans based on the 2009 World's Largest Concert song "There's Magic in the Music." Lessons will be judged by a teacher committee and the top lesson plans will be announced in March 2009 during Music In Our Schools Month.
Contest Deadline: January 5, 2009
Step 1: Download the sheet music and audio files for the WLC song "There's Magic in the Music."
Step 2: Write your lesson plan(s) for teaching this song in the classroom. Lesson plans must be based on this arrangement of the song. Creativity is unlimited! Browse My Music Class to see other lesson plans. Here's one to check out -- a lesson based on a past WLC song: Fifty States in Rhyme (you must be logged into My Music Class to view the lesson).
Step 3: Login to My Music Class (You will need your email address and MENC ID#.) and click “Add a Lesson” and submit your lesson(s). Title your lesson plan “There’s Magic in the Music.”
Rules & Guidelines:
1. Open to MENC members only. You must use My Music Class to submit your entry.
2. When in the “Add a Lesson” screen, all fields marked by an asterisk are required. All other fields are optional.
3. Optional: Lessons may include worksheets (in PDF format), audio files, video files, and website links.
4. There is no minimum or maximum length.
5. When entering lessons, either type directly into the text field, or copy and paste from an unformatted document (i.e. Notepad/Wordpad) to avoid coding problems that may change the formatting of the lesson (bullets, numbers, spaces, etc.).
