Thank you for your interest in submitting an article to Teaching Music Magazine. Teaching Music is undergoing changes that will affect article submissions from now on, and beginning with the December 2007 issue, MENC will be publishing it in a new way.
MENC is always looking for ways to better serve members. That™s why we are joining forces with In Tune Partners, publishers of In Tune Monthly magazine, Drum Corps International magazine, WGI Focus magazine, and Disney onStage. MENC has worked with In Tune in a variety of ways since In Tune™s founding in 2002.
With this partnership, Teaching Music will now be published six instead of five times each year. In Tune™s writers, editors, and designers will work with MENC staff to update Teaching Music while continuing to emphasize up-to-date and relevant content for music teachers.
Where in the past articles were written by individual members on topics of their choice and departments were a combination of member-written ideas and staff-developed reviews and information, now professional writers will seek a broader perspective on these topics by interviewing multiple members. The resulting articles will allow members to see a snapshot of current topics from several points of view.
Though we will not be using member-submitted articles in the new version of Teaching Music, you will still be able to share your ideas with other MENC members in different ways, such as on our Web site.
We hope that you will find the new Teaching Music more useful than ever. Please let us know your ideas for topics you would like to see the magazine address in the future by e-mailing managing editor Linda Brown.
