MIOSM K-6 Essay Writing Contest

The theme for 2009 Music In Our Schools Month is "Music!  Just Imagine..."  Have students write an essay beginning with the words "I imagine..." Select up to three (3)  student essays to send to MENC.  Your school may be selected to film your student reading his or her essay and be featured in the 2009 World's Largest Concert.

Deadline:  November 3, 2008

 

Rules:

  1. Teacher must be an MENC member.
  2. The essay must be written by a student who is between Kindergarten and 6th grade.
  3. For younger students, essays may be dictated to an adult.  Spelling and grammar do not count toward essay score.
  4. Essays must be no longer than 300 words. Essays must be typed on the entry form or attached to the entry form to be considered.
  5. Teacher may select up to three (3) student essays to submit to MENC from each school he or she teaches.
  6. If your student is selected as one of the top essay finalists, you may be asked to film your student reading his or her essay. Video footage may be used in the 2009 World’s Largest Concert DVD.
  7. By submitting this form, you authorize MENC to use your name and the name of your student(s) in any MENC promotional materials related to Music In Our Schools Month®.
