MENC Books: Proposal Guidelines

Thank you for your interest in publishing a book with MENC: The National Association for Music Education and Rowman and Littlefield Education.

We welcome book proposals that fulfill MENC’s mission to advance music education for all, that serve MENC’s policies, and that encompass at least one element of the MENC Strategic Plan (advocacy; music education recruitment, retention, preparation and professional development; curriculum, and standards based assessment models and strategies).

Please see this page for details about what to submit to MENC.

MENC staff will review your proposal for completeness, organization and writing style. If it meets with our criteria, we will send it to a small review committee of MENC members who are expert in the area of your proposal. If their review is favorable, MENC will pass your proposal onto our co-publishing partner, Rowman and Littlefield Education, for their marketing assessment.

If RLE agrees the proposal would do well as a book, RLE will issue a contract to you, along with an author questionaire and instructions on required manuscript preparation procedures and responsibilities.

Thank you for considering MENC and RLE.
