For today’s students to succeed tomorrow, they need a comprehensive education that includes music taught by exemplary music educators.
National Association for Music Education (NAfME) makes it our mission to advance music education by encouraging the study and making of music by all. We strive to provide music teachers and students and other music professionals with the tools to most effectively meet their goals. We promote music education everywhere – from the school classrooms of our members to the executive board rooms of national and local government officials.
Every day, more and more communities lose access to music education as part of their school curriculum. This is especially true in low-wealth and underserved areas of America. Studies show that music education is an essential building block for America’s children. The process of learning music fosters creativity, teaches collaboration, and instills discipline.
Give a Note Foundation, founded by the leaders of the National Association for Music Education (NAfME), is a social advocacy organization dedicated to bringing renewal to America’s embattled music education programs. Through strategic partnerships and grassroots campaigns, Give a Note Foundation connects musicians, teachers, students, policymakers, and community members, and empowers them to fight for music education in children’s lives. Give a Note Foundation will take on the activities formerly supported by FAME.
Through a strategic partnership with FOX’s hit show GLEE, Give a Note Foundation launched in Fall 2011 in living rooms across America with its first campaign, “GLEE Give a Note.”
