Hi Kari,
I am not sure what grades you are teaching, but a poster named S wrote the following about his or her Smart Board on the general music open forum. You might want to post your message on the general music, band, or chorus open forum to see if you receive more responses. Not many people check the technology open forum.

I have one in my classroom and I use it constantly.
Great for anything that you would have used a chart for.
Of course, Power Points of words are nicer than a song sheet. I often use the gallery feature in the SmartNotebook software to write notation to display within a powerpoint.
One of the best uses I've found is in the area of composition/student created parts, etc.
You are working on quarter notes and eighth notes with first grade, and doing the "Snail" song - get a snail picture from clip art on the internet. Paste in 4 of them. Build a little supply of quarter notes and eighth notes at the bottom. Vary the pictures of the beat icons for songs of different themes.
This page can be used to drill teacher created patterns like flashcards.
It can be used for kids to create their own patterns for the class to clap, etc.
Or with older kids, build rectangles to represent measures add a time signature from the gallery. Have a variety of notes available, and have kids "fill a measure".
Working on melody? Create a large staff, and let kidss create SM patterns (or whatever).
Recorders needing to drill getting low E notes covered? Have kids pull notes onto E's and G's lines.
If you don't have the SmartNotebook software - it's a free download and VERY worth it!
