First check "Update: Applications of Research in Music Education," available online (under publications) at MENC with your membership.

Next steps: A book of research in music education: Colwell's Handbook (1992) or New Handbook (2002); or Price's Music Education Research anthology (all available in a good library)

Journals: Journal of Research in Music Education (again--MENC publication available online), or Bulletin of the Council for Research in Music Education (in a Good library or Google and order it).

Online: Ask your librarian about Wilson omniweb, ERIC, RILM, or other music search engines.

I have a PowerPoint on my website with some basic starting points; you can access it at

Good luck!
