New 2-CD Album: THE PIANO MUSIC OF AARON COPLAND, Joan Singer Spicknall, Pianist. This is the first part of an extensive [research] project and subsequent publication on the subject. As musicians and educators, we generally don't focus much on the piano music of this highly recognized composer - which was one of the main reasons for my becoming involved with this project over thirty years ago! When this became the subject of my doctoral work, I began to correspond with Copland, coached this music with him, and was the first to perform it at Carnegie Recital Hall in 1975...
