I just started using the book "Basic Fiddlers Philharmonic." I like it because it has two different levels of the same tune -basic and advanced. There is also a lot of improvisation and accompaniment ideas that go along with it. I feel comfortable using this series even though woodwinds is my primary instrument area.

: I am really interested in starting a fiddle club next year for my 5th and 6th graders. I'm a classically trained musician myself who has never actually participated in a fiddle club but I really want to teach my kids the proper way (without music.)

: I thought of purchasing a fiddle method book just to get some tunes in my ear this summer and then teach the fiddle tunes to the kids by ear/rote.

: Does anyone have any suggestions?
