I am trying to finish up my spring concert programing (7 ensembles across grades and type) and my brain is fried! For my string orchestra (4 vln, 2 viola, 3 cello, 1 bass) I plan on doing a rhythmic 9/8 piece that is on our required music list for festival and an easier chorale type piece. I would also like to do a "classic"/"standard" orchestra type piece, perhaps multi-movement. What are your favorites? (Grade 3, maybe 4)
I've done the arrangements of the Brandenburgs, I've done Mozart Symphony and Divertimento arrangements, I've done Handel Water Music... From what can I get the most bang for my buck? Holberg Suite? Vivaldi Concerto Grossi? Perhaps I should just bag the "classics" this year...is there something out there you and your kids loved to learn?
Thanks for your inspiration (mine's a little worn out)!
