What do you have them sing on? Do you use solfege? I do a lot of sing a pattern, play a pattern type stuff. Maybe if you start with small patterns using do-re-mi , sung on syllables. It is a small range, plus solfege is a "tool" for them to understand relationships of pitches...if the kids consider their singing as a tool, I think they may be more willing
