Play "Strikes." STudents have to clap on beat according to your count off. Start with one beat, count off, they all clap together. Next round, two claps, on the beat. Add on one beat at a time. The goal is to see how many beats the group can clap together in a row without rushing or going past the designated number of beats. If they mess up, that is Strike 1, and you go back to one beat and start all over. After the third strike, game is over. You can keep track of the highest number of beats clapped, and play the game again after a break or at the end of the rehearsal to see if they can beat their score. My older elementary and beginning band kids love it.
