Enhanced CD from MENC: The National Association for Music Education Features Musical Performances, Narration, Interactive Graphics, and Introduction by Former President George H. W. Bush

 

RESTON, VA (April 5, 2007) — Music education, American history, and new performances by the U. S. Army Band (Pershing's Own) come together in "Liberty for All: A Musical Journey Volume 2 -- Westward Expansion-Industrial Revolution," an enhanced CD released by MENC: The National Association for Music Education. This unique resource traces America's history from the beginning of Westward Expansion through the Industrial Revolution with musical performances, narration, interactive graphics, photos, timelines, and quizzes. Intended for use in the classroom as well as for entertainment, the CD-ROM includes a wealth of information on the development of the United States from the presidency of Thomas Jefferson to the end of World War I.

The CD-ROM features six segments: "The Star-Spangled Banner," "The Vision," "Settling West," "Conflict in the West," "The Civil War," and "A Nation United." Featured narrators for these segments are former President George H. W. Bush, who also contributes the introduction, singer Joe Bonsall (the Oak Ridge Boys), Mrs. America 2006 Andrea Preuss, award-winning sportscaster Dick Enberg, and John Mahlmann, executive director of MENC.

Marine Band performing such inspirational patriotic tunes as "God Bless America," "The Stars and Stripes Forever," and "The Star Spangled Banner," was recognized as a Gold Winner in the Interactive Media - ”Educational category in the 15th Annual GALAXY Awards Competition, sponsored by MerComm, Inc.
