Music Supervisors Council Summer Meeting Plans Underway
National Council of Supervisors of Music Education chair Jim Harmon visited MENC headquarters in the National Center for Music Education in Reston, VA, on February 5 to discuss plans for the NCSME meeting at Music Education Week in Washington in June.
Harmon, music supervisor of Loudoun County (VA) Public Schools, met with MENC staff to outline goals and program topics for the meeting. "We're going to provide supervisors and other leaders with valuable information on advocacy, professional development, and the issues of doing business in the current economic climate," said Harmon. "There will be many opportunities for discussion and networking. This is chance for administrative leaders from all across the country to share their experiences and solutions with others. I hope supervisors will attend our meeting and take advantage of the other offerings at Music Education Week as well."
Michael Pierson, Loudoun County music specialist, also attended the discussion. Pierson (below, left) and Harmon both signed the Petition for Equal Access to Music Education at the completion of the meeting.
