MENC National Executive Board Approves Two Candidates for MENC President-Elect 2010-12

During Music Education Week in Washington, MENC’s National Assembly conducted its annual meeting. The National Assembly is advisory board to the MENC National Executive Board (NEB).

For the first time, the National Assembly participated in the selection process for the office of MENC President-Elect. Four potential candidates for 2010-12 addressed the Assembly members, who then took part in a straw preference poll. After reviewing the results of the poll, the NEB approved two candidates to run for the office:

  • Nancy Ditmer, Wooster, OH, North Central Division Past President
  • David Weatherred, Spokane, WA, Northwest Division Past President

For the first time, MENC members will vote online for this national office. Voting will begin January 1, 2010 and end March 7 at 11:59 p.m. Members with an e-mail address on file with MENC will be notified by MENC where they should vote online. Members without e-mail will receive paper ballots.
