University of Maryland School of Music Offers Unique Archives

The School of Music at the University of Maryland is home to the Michelle Smith Performing Arts Library. The library in College Park, Maryland houses collections that include the MENC Historical Center, the Charles Fowler Papers, and the International Society for Music Education Archives. A recent visit to the historical center and archives revealed a wealth of information, from manuscripts and papers to orchestrations.

MENC and the Maryland School of Music are creating a new visiting scholar program that will provide MENC members with grants to support study of the library’s music collection and the MENC archives. Information on the visiting scholar program will be announced over the summer.
