Petition's Progress: Big Bird's Best Friend Signs on to the Cause

Bob McGrath, educator, musician, star of Sesame Street, and 2002 Lowell Mason Fellow, recently signed the Petition for Equal Access to Music Education. He posted these comments:

Music has been the major part of my life since I was five years old. We have used music to teach all aspects of our curriculum on Sesame Street for 40 years. Jim Henson said the "Music is a part of everything we do. And like Puppetry, it speaks to a world wide audience in a wonderful way that nourishes the soul." From the thousands of children I have worked with over the years, both as "Bob" the music teacher on Sesame Street, in my live concerts and with my own children and grandchildren, I feel that music and the arts are an absolute necessity for a child to grow and mature to their fullest. We must insure that ALL children receive music and the arts as part of their public education. It is the only way to insure that "NO Child will be Left Behind."

Join the cause by signing the Petition for Equal Access to Music Education.
