Michael Butera Visits National Center for Music Education, Meets MENC Staff

Michael A. Butera, who becomes MENC executive director on May 1, visited MENC headquarters at the National Center for Music Education in Reston, VA on April 13. (He will succeed John Mahlmann, who leaves April 30 after 28 years leading the organization.) Butera answered questions from MENC staff, including "Were you a member of MENC when you were a music teacher?" (yes) and "Are you a Pittsburgh Steelers fan?" (also yes), and spoke about his teaching background and his strong belief in the importance of music education.
