Live and Learn? November Teaching Music Offers Professional Development Tips

Music educators interested in keeping their skills sharp will find a lot of help with professional, as well as personal, growth in the November issue of Teaching Music. From online resources to books and other publications to brainstorming sessions with colleagues, to conferences and classes, information is there for the music teacher who seeks it. Look for the November cover story,  "To Be Continued...".

In other November features:

  • "Pete Seeger: If I had a Song" shares visits to a music educator's classroom.
  • "Crossing Borders" explores multicultural music education.
  • "Making a Turnaround" showcases a music teacher who built a concert band from the ground up in one of most impoverished neighborhoods in the United States.

In addition, look for new stories in the Advocacy, Research, Partnership and Technology sections.

The Upbeat section includes news about MENC members and its programs, including:

  • "Massachusetts Music Teacher Learns to How to Reap the Benefits of Advocacy"
  • "2011 All-Amerian Marching Band Criss-Crosses the United States"
  • "MENC President Showcases School Music Programs for Lang Lang Foundation"
  • "2011 World's Largest Concert Focuses on a Lifetime of Music"
