From Washington to Washington: Port Angeles Bands Visit MENC

On April 9, MENC staff were treated to a concert by the Port Angeles High School Bands from Port Angeles, WA. The 144 students were on a tour of the Washington DC area that included performing at the 2010 Cherry Blossom Festival. The school's Rider Angels Dance Team also performed.

The groups are led by MENC members Doug Gailey, band director, and Jolene Dalton Gailey, dance team and choir director. Dalton Gailey noted that their school is near the western-most point of the contiguous United States, and that they were delighted to travel all the way to the "other Washington" on this trip.

Also present at the concert were special guests from the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics; the NCTM headquarters is located near MENC in Reston, VA.
