Dear (name of general manager or station),
On behalf of my fellow school music teachers in our community, I would like to ask that you please consider broadcasting the 2008 World’s Largest Concert, a sing-along event that links millions of students, teachers, and music supporters around the globe. Produced by MENC: The National Association for Music Education, this event is the highlight of March’s Music In Our Schools Month, a time of focused advocacy and awareness of the importance of music education for all children.
On March 13, 2008, at 1 PM ET, millions of voices will join in singing eight celebratory songs, including patriotic anthems, spirituals, and international folk songs. If your station is interested in participating, MENC will provide you with a free, high-quality DVD that contains footage of children from schools across the nation performing each of the featured songs.
The World’s Largest Concert is a key music education and music appreciation event—by broadcasting it on your station on March 13th, you’ll be part of a worldwide movement that celebrates the joy of music and our connectedness through music! If you decide to broadcast the WLC, music teachers in your area will make certain that their students’ parents and other community members are reminded to tune in!
