About the Author:
Dr. Barbara Payne McLain is a Professor of Music Education at the University of Hawaii, where she teachers undergraduate methods, supervises student teachers, and directs the online Master of Arts Degree program. She received her B.M.E. degree from Augustana College, Rock Island, Illinois; the M.M. degree from the University of Arizona, and a PhD degree in Music Education from The Ohio State University. She has taught instrumental and vocal music in four states for over 30 years and is an active clinician, adjudicator and motivational speaker around the U.S. She has served as a President of the Hawaii Music Educators Association, President of the Western Division of MENC, and is a Past National chair of the Collegiate Music Educators National Conference.
